Widnes Knife Crime

The Local Policing Unit (LPU) for Widnes is working to combat knife related crime in the town and is using intelligence to focus on individuals who think its acceptable to carry a knife in public.

The LPU is working with residents, partner agencies, the business community and schools to reduce the number of knives on streets. Its officers are also working with young people themselves to spread the message that carrying a knife can ruin their life rather than save it.

Officers are also joining trading standards and the charity Crimestoppers as part of their work in Widnes.

If anyone knows someone who carries a knife then it can be reported to Crimestoppers, an independent charity that encourages anyone with information to contact them anonymously on 0800 555 111. Alternatively call Cheshire Police on 101 .
