HealthWorks is the Constabulary’s occupational health provider offering a range of occupational health services, including absence management assessments, health surveillance services, pre-placement health assessments, vaccination services and the provision of strategic health advice to the Constabulary.
The service is a “doctor led” service with a triage facility to ensure that our employees are seen by the most appropriate health professional.
At the end of 2015, the Constabulary signed the Blue Light Time to Change pledge working with MIND Charity, which commits the organisation to ending mental health stigma and discrimination in the workplace. The Blue Light Infoline offers confidential, independent and practical support, advice and signposting around mental health and wellbeing.

For certain roles you will be required to have obtained a specific level of qualification or have sufficient experience of working in the required field. On your application form you must ensure you list all qualifications you have achieved.
If a role profile states the successful applicant has quite a generic qualification e.g. NVQ level 3 then the qualification can be in any subject from Accountancy to Zoology, but if the role profiled asks for a specific level of qualification e.g. Grade C in English then you must be able to demonstrate you have that specific grade.
If you have not got the required level of qualification, you must ensure that you evidence on your supporting statement that you have the relevant level of experience to be successful in post.
If you do not provide evidence of your qualification and / or level of experience then your application will not meet the minimum eligibility criteria and your application will be withdrawn from the process.

For all positions candidates are required to complete an online application form. Applications will then be shortlisted and successful candidates will be invited to attend an interview.

Those who are successful at interview receive a conditional offer which is subject to successfully passing pre-employment checks which consist of; referencing, medical questionnaire & vetting clearance.
It is strongly advised that candidates do not hand in their notice to their current employer until all pre-employment checks are complete and a final offer is issued. Cheshire Constabulary reserves the right to retract an offer of employment at any stage of the on-boarding process.

Cheshire Constabulary aims to provide development opportunities for internal staff, and therefore any role that is Scale 4 to SO2, salaries of approximately £19,000 - £31,600, will be advertised internally only first to maximise staff development opportunities.
The roles that are advertised externally are mainly at entry or professional level or they require some specialist knowledge or skills.
For roles in specialised fields, Cheshire Constabulary will provide the training required but background knowledge helps. For example, a Forensic Science degree or studies in science can help if you want to become a Crime Scene Investigator, but you would still need to attend a course set up by the Police.
Once you are employed by Cheshire Constabulary you are able to complete several different E-Learning training packages, and you may have the option to go on various courses relevant to your role.

The Insight Programme was developed by the Positive Action team within Human Resources, in order to provide a pre recruitment programme to potential future officers and staff who are aged 18 and above and fall under the Equality Act, giving them an insight into the Constabulary and the recruitment process.
The Insight Programme enables individuals to learn more about the force, improve confidence, develop presentation and communication skills and provide awareness of the process in relation to the recruitment of various roles.
The programme also hopes to help break down barriers between the community and local police force and help to instil confidence in the recruitment process.
This scheme gives the Constabulary a platform for longer-term, sustainable recruitment.
