Appeal following burglary and car theft in Ellesmere Port Date published: 1st March 2019 11.49am

Detectives investigating a burglary and car theft in Ellesmere Port are appealing for information and footage from the public.

Between around 4.30am and 4.45am today, Friday 1 March, a house on Cromwell Road was broken into.

A purse and a quantity of cash were stolen, as was the keys to an Audi S3 Sportback that was parked on the driveway.

The offender or offenders then drove off in the car, which has a distinctive nano grey colour.

Enquiries in relation to the incident are ongoing and detectives are appealing for anyone who witnessed anything suspicious in the area or has any information regarding the whereabouts of the stolen car to get in touch.

They are also keen to hear from anyone who believes they may have CCTV or dashcam footage of whoever broke into the house and stole the car, or of the vehicle after it had been taken.

Detective Constable Michelle Flanagan said: “The burglary took place in the early hours of the morning while the occupants were asleep inside the house.

“Being the victim of a burglary is always a deeply upsetting experience but it is particularly traumatic when the offence occurs whilst you are at home, which is the place you should be able to feel most safe.

“We are determined to catch whoever broke into the house and stole the car and bring them to justice.

“Enquiries are ongoing and I urge anyone who believes they may have information about them, the burglary or of the stolen car to come forward.

“The vehicle is distinctive and we would like people to keep an eye out for it.

“We also want to hear from anyone who thinks they may have witnessed, or have CCTV or dashcam footage of, something that may be relevant to our investigation.”
