Appeal following criminal damage and arson incidents in Widnes Date published: 18th July 2019 1.10pm

Detectives are appealing for witnesses to come forward following reports of criminal damage and arson at an address in Widnes.

The first incident occurred at approximately 10.15pm on Tuesday 16 July. Two unknown men threw a concrete slab through the rear window of a dark grey Hyundai ix35, which was parked outside an address on Orkney Close.

Just two days later, at around 12.10am on Thursday 18 July, unknown offenders targeted the same car at the same address, causing extensive damage.

Enquiries in relation to the two incidents are ongoing and officers are currently keeping an open mind as to whether they are linked.

Detective Constable Tom Lucas, of Widnes CID, said: “The investigations into these incidents are in their early stages and we are currently following a number of lines of enquiry.

“As part of our investigations we are keen to hear from anyone who was in the area at the times of either of the incidents and believes they may have witnessed something that may be relevant.

“We also want to speak to anyone who thinks they may have information regarding the identities of the offenders.

“The same goes for anyone who believes they may have CCTV or dashcam footage that could aid our investigations.”

Anyone with information or CCTV footage regarding either of the incidents is asked to contact Cheshire Constabulary on 101, quoting IML 459410, or via our website, at www.cheshire.police.uk/contact/general-enquiries.
