Appeal for information following Middlewich collision Date published: 17th May 2017 12.59pm

Officers are appealing for information from the public after a woman suffered life changing injuries following a collision in Middlewich.

Shortly after 9.45pm on Tuesday 16 May officers were called to reports that 51-year old local woman had been involved in a collision with a vehicle on Cledford Road, Middlewich, near to Kinderton Park.

Police and ambulance attended the scene and found that the vehicle involved had failed to stop and fled the scene. The pedestrian suffered serious injuries to her legs; she was taken to the Royal Stoke Hospital.

Detective Sergeant Richard Johnson said: “This victim in this incident has sustained life changing injuries and we are committed to doing all that we can to bring the person responsible to justice.

“Enquiries into the collision are currently on-going and I’m keen to hear from anyone with any information in relation to the incident.

“I’d specifically like to speak to anyone who believes that they may have seen the victim walking in the Cledford Lane area before the collision occurred.”

Anyone with any information in relation to the incident is asked to contact Cheshire Police in 101 quoting incident number 945 of 17/5/2017. Information can also be passed anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

A 47-year-old woman from Middlewich has been arrested on suspicion of failing to stop after a collision and failing to report a collision; she is currently assisting officers with their enquiries.
