Appeal for witnesses after a fatal collision in Widnes Date published: 17th July 2019 1.43pm

Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward following a fatal collision in Widnes.

At approximately 10.30am on Monday 15 July a collision occurred between a grey BMW X1 and a silver Nissan Note on Derby Road, near to Mill Lane.

Sadly, the driver of the BMW, a 75-year-old man from Widnes, died shortly after the collision. His family have been informed and they are currently being supported by specialist officers.

The driver of the Nissan, a 58-year-old man from Widnes, was also injured. He is currently in recovering in hospital.

An investigation into the cause of the collision has been launched and officers are appealing for anyone who witnesses the incident to come forward.

Police Constable Robin Fisher said: “Enquiries in relation to the incident are ongoing and as part of our investigation we want to speak to anyone who witnessed the collision or saw either of the vehicles in the moments leading up to the incident.

“We are also appealing for anyone who thinks that they may have dashcam or CCTV footage which may aid our investigation to get in touch.”
