Appeal for witnesses following fail to stop collision in Whitegate Date published: 29th August 2019 12.04pm

Officers are appealing for witnesses to come forward following a fail to stop collision in Whitegate.

At approximately 9.35pm on Tuesday 27 August a blue Ford Focus was involving a collision with a black BMW 3 series at the junction of Clay Lane and Dalefords Lane in Whitegate.

The driver of the BMW failed to stop at the scene and drove off at speed towards Northwich.

As a result of the collision a passenger in the Focus, a 75-year-old woman from Weaverham, sustained serious injuries. She was taken to Leighton hospital, where her condition is currently described as stable.

The driver of the Focus, an 85-year-old man from Weaverham, sustained minor injuries.

Enquiries in relation to the collision are ongoing and as part of the investigation officers are keen to hear from anyone with information which may assist their investigation.

Sergeant Simon Tickle, of the Cheshire Constabulary Roads Policing Unit said: “This was a serious collision which have left one person with possible life changing injuries and we are committed to doing all that we can to trace the people responsible.

“Enquiries in relation to the incident are ongoing and as part of the investigation I am keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision or has any other information which may help our investigation.

“I’m particularly keen to hear from any drivers with dashcam footage who were driving on Dalefords Lane or Clay Lane around the time of the incident occurred.

“I would also ask the local community to keep an eye out for the black BMW that was involved in the collision. The vehicle will have extensive to the front of the car and there is a possibility that it may have been dumped in the local area.”
