Armed robbery at Birchwood newsagents Date published: 25th March 2019 3.24pm

Detectives are appealing for information after an armed robbery took place at a Warrington newsagents.

Between 10.35pm and 10.40pm on Friday 22 March a man walked into McColls on Admirals Road in Birchwood armed with a firearm.

The man pointed the weapon at staff inside and made threats while demanding they open the till.

He then filled a black bin bag with the contents of the till and left the newsagents.

The man is described as white, around 5ft 8 in height and of a medium build. He was wearing a dark jacket with the hood up and gloves.

Detective Sergeant Darren Reid, of Warrington CID, said: “We’re really keen to hear from anyone who may have been in the area at the time or anyone who may have information which could help with our investigation.

“Please come forward by calling us on 101.”
