Police appeal for witnesses following Crewe arson Date published: 27th June 2019 12.03pm

Police are appealing for witnesses after a derelict building was deliberately set on fire in Crewe.

At around 5pm on 25 June two fire engines from Crewe were dispatched to reports of a fire on Mirion Street.

On arrival at the scene the crews discovered a fire inside a former youth club.

Sgt Jo Taylor said: “If the fire had spread to neighbouring buildings it could have had very serious consequences for those living or working there. This is not the first time this building has been targeted and we are urging anyone who sees suspicious activity in the area to report it to police.

“The suspects themselves are also putting their own lives at risk with their senseless actions. If you have any information on those responsible, or you witnessed the incident, I would urge you to contact police.”

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Cheshire Police on 101, or via https://www.cheshire.police.uk/contact/general-enquiries/ quoting IML 438052.

Alternatively information can be given anonymously by contacting Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
