Warrington officers trying to trace good Samaritan Date published: 19th July 2019 7.13am

Officers are appealing to the public to help trace a good Samaritan who helped them arrest a suspect in Warrington.

At around 8.40pm on Thursday 11 July officers on foot were chasing a man on Lovely Lane.

The suspect managed to run away from them before a member of the public intervened.

He pulled over at the side of the road and offered an officer a lift in his black pick-up truck.

The man, named Lee, then drove the officer to the suspect, who was swiftly arrested in relation to a domestic incident.

Police Constable John Parr, of Warrington Local Policing Unit, said: “Unfortunately we were unable to speak to the man at the time of the incident to thank him for his assistance, which is why we are looking to trace him now.

“I urge the man, or anyone who thinks they man know his identity, to get in touch to allow us to thank him in person.

“Without his assistance it is highly likely that the suspect would have evaded arrest.”

Anyone with information regarding the good Samaritan is asked to contact Cheshire Constabulary on 101, quoting IML 453169.
