Police are urging witnesses to come forward after an 82-year-old man was assaulted in Warrington.
He was involved in an altercation with two men after reversing his car out of School Brow onto General Street at around 8.50am on Tuesday 19 March.
The pensioner had got out of his car to close a gate behind him and the incident left him with facial injuries.
He was taken to Warrington Hospital and has since been discharged after receiving treatment.
The men who assaulted him fled on foot in the direction of Eldon Street and Church Street following the altercation.
Enquiries into the incident are ongoing and officers are appealing for anyone who witnessed what happened, or has any other information that may help the investigation, to get in touch.
They also want to hear from anyone who believes they have CCTV or dashcam footage that could aid the ongoing investigation.
Police Constable Hannah Clement said: “An elderly man was left with facial injuries that required hospital treatment as a result of the incident.
“What happened has also left him shaken up.
“Following the incident two men from Warrington, aged 50 and 46, have been arrested on suspicion of assault. They have both been released on conditional bail pending further enquiries.
“We are determined to establish the exact circumstances of what took place in the General Street/School Brow area in Warrington on the morning of Tuesday 19 March and as part of our enquiries we are appealing for anyone who was in the area and witnessed the incident to come forward.
“The same goes for anyone with any other information or CCTV or dashcam footage that may be relevant to our investigation.”
