Officers arrested 11 people this morning (Wednesday, October 28) during a series of dawn raids on addresses in the Runcorn area.
Ten men and one woman, ranging in age from 18 to 49, were arrested in connection with drug supply offences during the operation. A significant quantity of drugs was seized along with an unknown amount of cash, weapons, and a car was seized under the Proceeds of Crime Act.
Part of the Constabulary’s Operation Impact campaign, this was the latest activity in the Force’s efforts to tackle those whose criminality linked to drugs brings misery to the wider community.
Inspector Mike Evans, of Runcorn Local Policing Unit, said: “This has been a carefully co-ordinated series of strikes based on months of preparation. The corrosive effect that drug abuse and the associated crime have on our communities is well known and this action this morning demonstrates our commitment to tackling those involved head-on.
“This sort of behaviour can have a major impact on local communities and we have already received some very positive feedback from local residents over this morning’s action. We’ve heard that kids have been discouraged form playing outside due to what’s been going on in their neighbourhoods and I hope this provides some reassurance that this is an issue the Force takes extremely seriously and we devote all the resources we can to tracing those responsible and disrupting their behaviour.”
A mobile police station has been set up temporarily in The Knoll area of Runcorn to provide additional reassurance to local residents.
