Family pays tribute to man who died following altercation in Runcorn Date published: 11th September 2018 2.31pm

The family of an 18-year-old man from Runcorn who died following an altercation outside a pub in the town have paid tribute to him.

Eddie O’Rourke sustained a serious injury outside the Royal British Legion on Castle Road in Halton Village on the night of Friday 7 September.

He was taken to hospital via ambulance but sadly died.

In a statement, his mum Jane White said: “Eddie was a very much loved son and brother who will be greatly missed by us all."

The family wish to thank people who have left floral tributes to Eddie outside the Royal British Legion but ask that rather than write their tributes on the pub's walls, they would welcome cards or notes being left by well-wishers so the family can keep them for the future.

Two teenage boys from Runcorn – aged 17 and 15 – have been charged with murder in relation to Eddie’s death.

They appeared at Warrington Combined Court today, Tuesday 11 September.

The two teenagers have been further remanded in custody and are due to appear at Chester Crown Court tomorrow, Wednesday 12 September.

A third teenage boy from Runcorn was also arrested on suspicion of murder in relation to Eddie’s death. The 16-year-old has since been released on conditional bail pending further enquiries.

None of the teenagers can be named for legal reasons.
