Fatal flat fire in Chester Date published: 24th December 2017 11.11pm

Shortly before 8.40pm today, Sunday 24 December, emergency services were called to reports of a fire at Clover Place, Chester.

On arrival at the scene the fire was found to involve a residential flat which well alight. Firefighters from Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service entered the building and a man was found inside the flat.

Sadly, despite the efforts of emergency crews, the man was pronounced dead at the scene. The man’s next of kin have been informed and they are currently being supported.

Our thoughts at the current time are with the family of the man and we request for their privacy to be respected at this difficult time.

The fire, which was contained to the one flat, has since been extinguished. A joint police and fire investigation is being carried out to establish the cause of the fire. At this time the death is not being treated as suspicious.
