Halton residents are being invited to attend Community Conversation events to help make Runcorn and Widnes even better places to live.
These free events will take place between 7pm and 9pm at Runcorn Shopping City on Monday 11 February and at the Halton Stadium in Widnes on Monday 18 February.
The conversations are facilitated by the ROC (Redeeming Our Communities) charity in partnership with Cheshire Constabulary as well as Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service, Halton Borough Council and local faith groups and community organisations.
Anyone who lives or works in the towns is invited to attend, with people from all walks of life wanted at the events.
Chief Inspector Sarah Heath, of Runcorn Local Policing Unit (LPU), said: “The events are an ideal opportunity for everyone in Halton who cares about where they live to get together under one roof and formulate plans to make their town a safer and nicer place to live.
“The aim is to identify the issues that are most important to the people of Runcorn and Widnes and agree on action plans and goals that can be achieved by everyone working together as a united community.”
Chief Inspector Simon Parsonage, of Widnes LPU, added: “This is an opportunity for the people of Widnes and Runcorn to meet up and talk about what’s good in Halton, what they would like to see change and how they can work together with our partners to make a real difference in their communities.
“Both towns have thriving communities, with a number of well established projects, groups and volunteers. These Community Conversations aim to lead to increased support for these as well as identify new ideas and initiatives agreed upon and established by the people of Widnes and Runcorn themselves.”
ROC is a national community engagement charity that has conducted more than 160 Community Conversation events across the UK.
The events identify gaps in provision and what emergency services, local authority members, statutory agencies, key community individuals, community groups and local faith groups in attendance can offer to bridge those gaps.
The ROC event for Runcorn residents will take place in the Youth Zone at the Shopping City on Halton Link Road and the Community Conversation event for Widnes will be held in the Bridge Suite at the Halton Stadium on Lower House Lane.
There will be free refreshments to enjoy on both dates and anyone planning to attend is urged to register in advance online at www.roc.uk.com/runcorn or www.roc.uk.com/widnes or by calling 0161 393 4511.
