Man charged following arson attack at Northwich school Date published: 27th February 2018 4.04pm

Police investigating a serious fire at a school in Northwich have charged a man in relation to the incident.

The fire at the University of Chester Academy Northwich (UCAN) was reported at 6am on Sunday 25 February. Firefighters from Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service spent several hours tackling the blaze, while officers from Cheshire Police assisted with road closures in the area.

Following an investigation Philip Day, 55, was arrested in relation to the incident, he has subsequently been charged with arson with intent. Day has been remanded in police custody and is set to appear at North Cheshire Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday 27 February 2018.
