Man charged following stabbing incident in Widnes Date published: 19th November 2018 3pm

A 38-year-old man from Widnes has been charged following a stabbing incident in the town.

Shortly after 3am yesterday, Sunday 18 November, police were called to an address on Lea Street.

They found that a 33-year-old man from Widnes had sustained serious injuries. He is currently being treated in hospital.

Stephen Melbourne, of Downside, Widnes, was subsequently arrested and has been charged with wounding with intent, assaulting a person and causing them actual bodily harm, causing criminal damage, theft and breaching a non-molestation order.

The 38-year-old appeared at Chester Magistrates’ Court today, Monday 19 November.

He was remanded in custody to appear at Liverpool Crown Court on Monday 17 December.
