A 55-year-old man has been jailed for six weeks for stealing from cars in Shavington.

Stephen Grace, of Gresty Road, Crewe, appeared at South Cheshire Magistrates Court on Wednesday 31 January where he pleaded guilty to three counts of theft from motor vehicles.

The charges related to three incidents that took place on Sunday 14 January when Grace broke into three cars in the Gresty Road area of Shavington and stole a number of items, including cash, tobacco and a walking stick.

PC Chris Reade said: “I’m pleased with the outcome of this case and I hope that it provides reassurance to residents in the local area.

“As part of this investigation we've also recovered a number of items which we believe may have been stolen from other vehicles in the Shavington area over the past few months and we are keen to reunite them with their rightful owners.

“I’d urge anyone who believes that they may he been a victim to contact the team here at Crewe on 101 and ask for PC Chris Reade.”
