Chief Constable Simon Byrne, Police & Crime Commissioner John Dwyer and Chief Inspector Simon Meegan at the opening of Northwich Police StationChief Constable Simon Byrne and Police & Crime Commissioner John Dwyer showed their continue commitment to investment in local policing with the unveiling of improved facilities at Northwich Police Station today (Thursday 13 August).

Northwich is the latest of our stations to undergo a significant facelift, with work well under way at other stations across the county.

Not only have the aesthetics been improved – each station is being given a fresher and brighter feel to provide a more vibrant workspace – but they have been designed to accommodate Cheshire Constabulary’s drive to place technology at the heart of policing.

Briefing facilities for officers have been modernised and this, coupled with our investment in mobile technology, will provide frontline staff with the information they need at their fingertips to be able to deal with incidents – ensuring we can be there for the public when and where they need us.

Offices are more open plan, providing a more comfortable working area for staff and the helpdesks are also being refurbished and modernised to provide an environment that is both pleasant and informative for the public when they visit us.

Chief Constable Simon Byrne said: “I want anyone who comes into our helpdesks to feel welcome and the refurbishments of the public areas is important to ensure people feel comfortable when they come into a station.

“Our Public Contact Points attached to stations have provided greater access for the public to contact us by ensuring a service is available at those locations outside advertised hours. Our estates and technology investment is part of our commitment to the public to be there where they need us, when they need us.”

Police & Crime Commissioner John Dwyer added: “I have pledged to maintain a strong and visible police presence and, working the Chief Constable, I am pleased to see the outcome of some of our investment plans come to fruition, with improvements to police buildings based in our communities. This investment in their police station clearly demonstrates my commitment to serving the people of Northwich.”
