Officers arrest two people for drug offences following warrants in Ellesmere Port Date published: 6th July 2017 1.45pm

Two people have been arrested following the seizure of psychoactive substances and cannabis after a number of drugs warrants were executed.

At around 10:45am today (Thursday, 6 July) officers from Ellesmere Port and Chester Local Policing Units executed a warrant at Ellesmere Port Market and two residential addresses in the town. Officers seized a quantity of cannabis and a large bag of a suspected psychoactive substance.

The raid comes just days after officers in Chester voiced their concerns and warned about the dangers of taking psychoactive substances.

A man, 27, and a woman, 24, both from Ellesmere Port were arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply a Class B drug and psychoactive substances.

Detective Sergeant Graeme Carvell, of Ellesmere Port Local Policing Unit, said: “Psychoactive substances are extremely dangerous and highly addictive. They have a huge impact on users as well as a major impact on our local community. Make no mistake, dealing these drugs is criminal, you will be caught.

“We are committed in stopping these substances being distributed in our communities and are working closely with partner agencies and charities but we also need the local community to come forward with any information.”

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Cheshire Police on 101 or by calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
