Runcorn burglar jailed Date published: 12th April 2018 10.59am

A Runcorn man has been jailed after pleading guilty to burglary.

James Randles, 20, appeared at Liverpool Crown Court on Monday 9 April where he was handed a 12 month sentence after pleading guilty to one count of burglary.

The charge relates to an incident on Monday 31 July 2017 when Randles broke into a house on Festival Terrace in Runcorn.

PC Stuart Beswick said: “This was a calculated and cold-hearted burglary which has had a serious impact on the victim and her young family. Randles opened personal mail before stealing a flat screen television from the home. This intrusion of the victims left them feeling so unsafe in their own home that they were forced to move out of the area.

“Randles denied any involvement in the offence when interviewed and initially entered a not guilty plea. However, he later changed his plea to guilty when faced with the overwhelming evidence gathered by the team here at Runcorn Local Policing Unit.

“I urge anyone with any information in relation burglaries in their community to contact Cheshire Police on 101. Information can also be passed anonymously, via Crimestoppers, on 0800 555 111 or www.crimestoppers-uk.org
