Runcorn man charged following armed robbery in the town Date published: 25th February 2019 1.32pm

A 29-year-old man from Runcorn has been charged in connection with an armed robbery in the town.

Jamie Goffett, of Bournemouth Close, appeared at Chester Magistrates’ Court on Saturday 23 February to answer charges of robbery and possessing an offensive weapon in a public place.

He was remanded in custody to appear at Chester Crown Court on Monday 25 March.

The charges relate to an incident at The Co-operative Food store at The Ridgeway in Murdishaw, Runcorn.

Staff were threatened with an axe and a quantity of cash was stolen in the incident, which occurred at around 9.15pm on Thursday 24 January.
