Statement following the Easter Monday Crewe Alexandra v Port Vale derby Date published: 3rd April 2018 12.34pm

Following the Crewe Alexandra v Port Vale FC match on Easter Monday, Superintendent Martin Cleworth, in charge of the policing operation, said: “Overall we are pleased with how the policing operation went and I would like to take this opportunity to thank the vast majority of fans who behaved themselves safely and enjoyed the game.

“Unfortunately, officers did deal with a small number of arrests inside and outside the stadium as well as issuing a number of dispersal orders. This included a smoke bomb which was let off inside a pub on Nantwich Road.

“We are also aware of disorder within the stadium and escalation was prevented by both stewards and officers. We will work with Crewe Alexandra Football Club to review the CCTV footage and assess whether any further action is required.

“Once again, I would to thank fans for their co-operation and if anyone has any information in relation to any disorder at the match to contact us on 101.”
