Two people charged following serious assault in Warrington Date published: 11th June 2018 11.51am

Officers from Warrington CID have charged two people after a man was seriously assaulted in Orford.

Shortly after midnight on Saturday 9 June officers were called to reports of an incident on Clough Avenue, Orford.

On arrival at the scene officers found that a 48-year-old man had been stabbed in the neck. The man was taken to Aintree Hospital for treatment; he has since been discharged and is now recovering at home.

Following enquiries officers arrested a local man and woman in relation to the incident.

Matthew Kershaw, 50, and Joanne Sherratt, 48, have subsequently been charged with attempted murder and two counts of possession of an offensive weapon.

The pair, both of Clough Avenue, appeared at North Cheshire Magistrates’ Court earlier today (Monday 11 June) where they were remanded in custody. They are next due to appear at Liverpool Crown Court on Monday 9 July.
