At approximately 8.30am on Wednesday 2 May officers conducted a warrant at an address on Blacon Avenue in Chester, and arrested a 42-year-old man. While there, officers discovered what appeared to be a suspicious device.
The Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team were called to the scene and a 100 meter cordon was put in place as a precautionary measure; which resulted in a number of road closures.
Having examined the device, EOD have now confirmed it to be safe. The device has been removed from the address and all road closures have been lifted. Officers will remain in the area to provide reassurance and we would like to thank local residents for their patience.
The man arrested earlier today remains in police custody at the current time where he is assisting officers with their enquiries.
